US Commission on International Religious Freedom and Samuel Tadros, Hudson Institute Fellow. Coptic Christians constitute about 10% of Egypt’s population and have made Egypt their home for at least 1,700 years. Over the past decades, however, they have been subject to violence from Islamic extremists and harsh discrimination and harassment. Many Copts today feel increasingly at risk and without hope.
