Introduction:
“Let me start by acknowledging my good friend, Father Raymond G. Helmick, S.J., who has traveled with me often to points of pain. He stood beside me when we rescued three young soldiers in the former Yugoslavia. Together we promoted peace and nonviolence in the Middle East. When times are hard, your friends are a joy, and Father Helmick has been a joy to our work for a long time. I can think of no one more deserving of receiving the dedication of a scholarly book of serious theological thinking on peace and justice.” (more...) ~~~ by Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., (from the Foreword)

Endorsements:

“We have a false sense of history as if it were our guns that made us what we are…. the churches have to recover the nonviolence that is rightly a part of their tradition…. What I find encouraging is local efforts toward peace, often coming from churches and other places of worship…to bring about an end to this violence.” (read inside article...)
~~~ by Elise Boulding, 1990 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee
“We can not even speak about peace without God because there are so many people in the world who respect God, who believe in God, who have faith in God, who pray to God every day; we have to respect those people. And in these difficult times praying to God for peace is very important to all believers and to all of us.” (read inside article...)
~~~ by President Mikhail Gorbachev, 1990 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

“If U.S. and Japan will put too much military pressure towards China, then new nationalistic leaders will emerge and will impact China’s future. Military officers will come to hold prominent power in the society and this could lead to catastrophic results. However, if US and Japan do not put too much military pressure towards China, then China will not feel threaten by these nations in military terms. On the contrary, China will focus more on its internal affairs, such as the development of the economy in such a way that they can feed their people, and provide enough jobs for their people.” (read inside article...)
